Care Guide
Watering
Cuphea 'David Verity' should be watered regularly, but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. During the spring and summer, water deeply and evenly 1 to 2 times a week. During the fall and winter, water only enough to keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Make sure not to water the leaves as this can cause damage. If the soil feels dry to the touch, then it is time to water. Water at the base of the plant, not from above.
Light
Cuphea 'David Verity' prefers full sun or partial shade for best growth. Ideally, this plant should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth and flowering. Depending on the climate and season, it may be beneficial to provide some afternoon shade in hot summer months. During the first few months after planting, it's best to limit direct sunlight for Cuphea 'David Verity' to help the plant become established.

Hardiness zone 8-10.
Pruning
Cuphea 'David Verity' should be pruned in early spring and late summer, about twice a year. In early spring, remove any dead or damaged stems, as well as any shoots that are growing out of bounds. This will encourage new growth that will flower nicely. A light trim of the plant after flowering, to shape and keep it compact, should be performed in late summer. Some of the flower heads can be left for winter colour when desired. Trim the stems back to slightly above the foliage level.
